Biosketch

Dr. Benjamin Nicholson is fellowship-trained in both retina and uveitis. He has a particular interest in uveitis and retinal diseases, including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and central serous chorioretinopathy. He treats a variety of surgical conditions, including macular hole, macular pucker, and retinal detachment. Dr. Nicholson grew up in Chesterfield, MO, where he graduated from Parkway Central High School. He attended Dartmouth College and received his B.A. in biochemistry/molecular biology and Middle Eastern studies in 2000. He then attended St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he received his M.D. degree. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic. He went on to complete two subspecialty fellowships. The first was at the National Eye Institute and the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. There, he trained in medical retina and uveitis. The second was a surgical retina fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Nicholson has also spent time in the Middle East and completed his Master鈥檚 studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Associations and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nicholson鈥檚 wife, Josephine, is also a graduate of Dartmouth College, and she is a software developer. They have four children: Chloe, Lucy, Silas, and Samantha. They attend the Christian Reformed Church of St. Joseph.
