WMed Global & Public Health Distinction Program - Requirements
The requirements of the Program are to be met prior to graduation with the majority completed prior to the end of third year and a clear plan in place to finish all requirements over the following year. Students must complete 5 of the following 7 requirements.
1. Completion of global health elective series INTL 7110 Selected Topics in International Health - Section 1: Global Health Initiative

1. Completion of global health elective series INTL 7110 Selected Topics in International Health - Section 1: Global Health Initiative - Comment
Unless you selected option 3 above, please describe your participation in or plan to complete the above requirement.
2. Participation in a global health equity project
Participation in a global health equity project will consist of planning and executing a new or existing global health equity project. Global health equity projects must focus on developing a partnership with a local organization with the goal of creating a lasting and sustainable health benefit for the community. Students are welcome to submit proposals for creating new partnerships and programs to the supervising faculty advisor(s).Completion of this requirement as part of the Program does not require attendance on an international trip.

2. Participation in a global health equity project - Comment:
Unless you selected option 3 above, please describe your participation in or plan to complete the above requirement.
3. Completion of online coursework
Completion of this requirement as part of the Program consists of participation in one of the available courses. Online courses currently include Tropical Medicine and Global Health. Evaluation of competency will consist of online assessments as part of the modules. Participants must receive a passing score on all modules to meet this requirement.

4. Participation in Global Health Grand Rounds
Students must attend a total of 10 Global Health Grand Rounds. These sessions are recorded with the option of watching online and writing a reflection piece if necessary.

5. Completion of social determinants of health elective series MEHL 7510 Selected Topics in Medical Ethics - Section 1: Systematic Evaluation of Health Inequity
This course is currently offered as a longitudinal elective in pre-clinical years one and two. Completion of this requirement as part of the Program may be through enrollment as a pre-clinical elective or equivalent participation in this course at any point during medical school.

6. Participation in a local public health project
Participation in a local public health equity project will consist of planning and executing a new or existing local public health project. Public health projects must focus on some aspect of public health with the goal of creating a lasting and sustainable health benefit for the community. Students are welcome to submit proposals for creating new projects to the supervising faculty advisor(s).

7. Presentation of a global and/or public health project
Completion of this requirement as part of the Program consists of a poster or oral presentation at a global or public health related symposium, conference, grand rounds or other WMed sponsored educational event.
